Ukraine celebrated its 31st year of independence during the war, so it is natural that the stamp issued for this holiday had to personify the main features of the country and those qualities that enter the blood of every Ukrainian child with mother's milk. It includes a stamp with a Ukrainian soldier, who is a symbol of courage and indomitability, and six illustrations that are united by one overarching theme of war. The first illustration is a miserable woman standing on the ruins of a destroyed apartment, of which there are now thousands in Ukraine. The next ones are a mother and her child, for whom the subway became a hiding place during the rocket attacks of the occupiers. The third illustration is a girl in front of which we see many burned cars, obviously civilian ones, and the fourth is a drama theater, which became the last refuge of people who hid there from the bombings, in Mariupol, where the inscription "CHILDREN" is clearly visible, which did not stop the enemy bombs . Then we see the Sviatohirsk Lavra - the object of constant enemy attacks. The last illustration is a pram, suitcases that someone left behind, and children's toys. All these illustrations became realities of everyday life of every Ukrainian after February 24, 2022.

The author of the postal block is a native of Kramatorsk, Donetsk region,
a young Ukrainian designer, Anton Khrupin. He sent one of his sketches to
Ukrposhta, after which he was offered cooperation in the production of a block
for Independence Day. Circulation of the postal block is 1 million copies. It
is accompanied by First Day envelopes and unmarked art envelopes available for
purchase from 24 August.
The color scheme of the postal block is also symbolic, as they are made in the style of graphics. The lives of people under occupation, in the conditions of war, lost their colors, became as black and white as the stamps from the "FREE. UNBREAKABLE. INVINCIBLE" block. However, all Ukrainians have hope for blue-yellow colors, which will soon be in every corner of our land - native free Ukraine.
