Symbolic image of the National Anthem of Ukraine, PPU stamp series 1955 (4stamps)

In 1955, the Underground Post of Ukraine issued a unique utility series of stamps dedicated to the Ukrainian national anthem. This issue became a real work of philatelic art, embodying the spirit of national pride and patriotism. Stamps with national symbols became the most popular series among many stamp issues of the 20th century. Yuriy Kostiv became the artist of the series, who skilfully combined the symbols with the text of the anthem.

The series consists of six stamps, each of which depicts a separate fragment of the text of the Ukrainian national anthem written by Pavl Chubynskyi. The stamps have a dark color on which the red text stands out. In the center of each stamp is an allegorical image corresponding to the content of the text on it.

Stamp denominations are 5, 10, 15, 20, 50 and 100 shags. Stamps with denominations from 5 to 50 shags were issued in an edition of 5,000 copies each, and a stamp with a denomination of 100 shags in an edition of 3,000 copies.

Artist Yury Kostiv successfully conveyed the mood and power of the words of the Ukrainian national anthem through the image and color scheme of the stamps. The dark background symbolizes the seriousness and depth of the national history, while the red text emphasizes the importance and significance of the words of the anthem, which call for struggle and unity.

The series of stamps "Hymn of Ukraine" carries deep symbolism and a patriotic message. It reminds of the importance of the national anthem as a symbol of statehood and the unity of the people. Each stamp of this series not only fulfills its postal function, but also serves as a reminder of the glorious past and an integral part of the cultural heritage of Ukraine.

The series of postage stamps "Hymn of Ukraine" became a valuable addition to philatelic collections, reflecting national pride and love for the native land. The 1955 edition remains a symbol of the indomitable spirit of Ukrainians and their devotion to the ideas of freedom and independence. The issue became a firm reminder to everyone in the world about the existence and indelibility of the Ukrainian nation.

It should be noted that stamps with a similar design were printed by the Underground Post of Ukraine back in 1974. The issue was in the form of a sheet with three stamps.
