Angels of War stamp sheet. Heroic professions series.
On a scorching day, July 26, 2024, when Ukraine honors its tireless medics, Ukrposhta made a noble gesture. New postage stamps titled "Medics. On the Battlefield" and "Medics. In the Operating Room" have been unveiled. United into a single sheet called "Heroic Professions. Angels of War," these stamps embody gratitude and respect. Every hryvnia from the sales will go to support hospitals bravely holding the front lines.
Courageous, fearless, dedicated—these words perfectly describe the Ukrainian medics to whom this new stamp series is dedicated. Initiated in 2023, the series of heroic stamps continues, this time honoring those whom defenders call angels of war. Like true guardian angels, medics evacuate the wounded from blood-soaked battlefields, save lives in ambulances and operating rooms, and bring hope to those who have lost it due to relentless shelling.
Daily, without holidays or weekends, these brave souls work in conditions of constant shortage of tools, medications, and hands. They perform surgeries, stop bleeding, and stitch torn bodies, fighting for the most important thing—life.
The stamp sheet from Ukrposhta consists of two parts: "Medics. On the Battlefield" and "Medics. In the Operating Room." These stamps depict doctors in various circumstances, both on the front lines and in hot spots. Since the beginning of the war, many of them have left their comfortable offices and gone to the front lines. Some, even without medical education, have gained invaluable experience and skills in the extreme conditions of war. Each stamp in this series symbolizes resilience and dedication, brightly illuminating their feats with the light of gratitude.
Only 100,000 copies of this sheet have been issued. The nominal value of each stamp is M, corresponding to the tariff for sending domestic registered letters weighing up to 50 g and postcards (30 UAH), plus an additional 5 UAH, which will go to social (charitable) purposes—to support hospitals on the front lines.
These wonderful postage stamps, as well as the "First Day" envelope and cards, were created by the talented artist Oleksandr Ohapkіn.
