Warriors of light. Warriors of goodness. Postal unit
The
modern civilized world is outraged by the situation with the violation of the
borders of an independent democratic state and the seizure of its territories.
This is especially true given the fact that these events took place on the
territory of a country that is seeking to join the EU. A real war has broken
out under the slogans of peace.
It's
hard to believe in the 21st century, so it took a while to realize the
situation. However, we received help from partner countries, which allowed us
to repel the enemy and continue the struggle for the liberation of the occupied
territories. The year 2022 turned out to be a difficult one for Ukraine.
Ukrposhta's philatelic war
Postage
stamps and other philatelic products have always been an effective tool of
propaganda. That is, in this way, a country could express its position on a
particular situation. The events of the first declaration of independence of
the Ukrainian state in 1918 can be linked to Ukrainian philately. At that time,
the first Ukrainian postage stamps were issued as a sign of statehood.

Renovation of the energy system of Ukraine після missile strikes
The
first and most successful issue of the martial law period was the April stamp
"Russian warship, go...!" in two acts. It was this stamp that gave
rise to the continuation of thematic issues that support the Ukrainian people
in the fight against the aggression of a neighboring unfriendly country. The stamp
became especially popular after the successful operation to eliminate the
flagship of the Russian navy by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This issue is
highly appreciated by philatelists, each of whom wants at least one of these
stamps in their collection. It should be noted that there was a great deal of
excitement at the time of the first issue of these stamps.
Prerequisites for creating the issue
The occupiers'
initial plans to capture the whole of Ukraine failed back in March and April.
Throughout the year, the Russian army changed its military leadership and
tactics many times. However, it failed to achieve significant results on the
battlefield. Instead, the Ukrainian army completely drove Russian military
groups out of Kyiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kharkiv regions. Currently, fighting
continues in parts of Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions. Donetsk and
Luhansk regions are a separate area.
Unable
to achieve its goals, the Russian side resorted to terrorizing the civilian
population. Using massive rocket attacks, Russian troops began shelling
peaceful Ukrainian cities. Civilian objects and structures, as well as the
energy sector, were targeted. As a result, a large amount of infrastructure of
electric and thermal power plants, telecommunication and communication towers
was destroyed. Many Ukrainian citizens have experienced a lack of electricity,
heat and water. The right word for such actions of the aggressor country is
terrorism.
What is depicted on the block "Warriors of Light. Warriors of goodness"
To ensure the normal existence of the Ukrainian population in winter, municipal and engineering units became real rescuers. They were also deployed to the frontline as soldiers who repaired communications under enemy fire. Thanks to these people, the cold season has been overcome for a longer period of time.

The sketch of the
block "Warriors of Light. Warriors of Good" was created by Vinnytsia
artist Oleksandr Nikitiuk. He is known for his sketches of the Dog Patron stamp
series, which was issued in the summer of 2022. Among other works, the artist
has a rich collection of caricatures and cartoons of Russian leaders of the terrorist
regime.
Ukrposhta announced
the release of the block on February 15, 2023. A set of the block, envelope and
card is available for pre-order. The postal block has a horizontal orientation
and contains 5 stamps, 4 of which are in square format and one stamp in the
center in a rectangular portrait format. The background of the postal block is
presented in the blue color of the night. The background shows a map of Ukraine
in black. Images of airplanes, also in black, are flying towards it from the
east. The title of the block is written at the top: "Warriors of Light.
Warriors of Good".
Each stamp bears
the country of issue in two languages, the year of issue, the coat of arms, and
the denomination:
·
Energy is the central brand, which is
presented in portrait orientation and is the largest in size. Energy sector
employees have been working 24/7 to repair the damaged power grid. Thanks to
them, Ukrainians' homes are now connected to the power grid.
·
Water suppliers - the availability of water is
no less important a condition of existence. Especially for such a frontline
city as Mykolaiv, which was deprived of water supply from the Dnipro River by
the occupiers at the beginning of the war.
·
Road workers - leaving only destruction
behind, Russian troops deliberately blew up bridges and destroyed roads.
Despite this, road units are restoring the destroyed and providing
transportation to the eastern and southern cities of the country affected by
the aggressor country.
·
Signal officers - the modern world cannot be
imagined without mobile communications. Engineering services have been
constantly repairing communications equipment to ensure that every Ukrainian
does not lose contact with their families.
·
Gas workers are the ones who provide homes
with heat. Gas makes it possible to cook without electricity. Gas as a fuel
ensures the operation of many Ukrainian enterprises.
Each stamp depicts employees of the respective field who are working to restore communications in complete darkness. Thanks to these people, Ukrainians were able to survive the blackouts of the fall and winter of 2022-2023.
