For honor! For glory! For the people! рostage stamp
Postage stamp For honor! For glory! For the
people! is the
first stamp of the Ukrainian Post Office with the image of a
Fighter of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The stamp was issued on December 2014, to
support the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the fight against the Russian invasion.
As a result of Russian aggression in 2014, Ukraine
lost part of its territory, in particular the Crimean peninsula, part of
Donetsk, and part of Luhansk regions. Although Russia did not officially
recognize the presence of its troops in the territory of Ukraine in 2014, more
than 4,000 Ukrainian soldiers died in the combat zone.
The postage
stamp For honor! For glory! For the people! is very interesting. On the
sketch of the stamp, there is an assembled image of a Ukrainian soldier,
symbolizing courage, bravery, and honesty.
The image of a fighter is drawn from a real person.
While preparing the future sketch for the stamp,
stamp artist Volodymyr Taran looked at photos from the war zone (anti-terrorist
operation zone). He selected a photo with a soldier - a sapper for the project.
From the selected photo, the artist sketched the
stamp, slightly correcting the image of the soldier by painting the fighter
with a helmet.
The person in the photo is an officer of the Armed
Forces of Ukraine, a sapper by specialty, Oleksiy Shinalskyi, a native of
Kamianets-Podilskyi. The serviceman visited many places of military conflict,
demining the area. Before the war, the fighter underwent a long internship at
the school of engineering forces in France. Because of this, he received the
military call sign French
Because of this history, many Ukrainian collectors
call this stamp - Fighter French.
In our opinion Without the mark "For honor! For glory! For the people!" the collection of Ukrainian military stamps will be incomplete.
