In the usual times of the country, organising the issuing of stamps is a rather lengthy process, which is divided into stages. It is carried out according to an approved thematic plan. Until it is approved, it is drawn up in conjunction with suggestions from the public.

What is known about the third stamp during martial law

During martial law, Ukrposhta departed from the thematic plan and set a goal to issue stamps that would reflect the present. However, the stamp was not the first. After the successful release of "Russian warship, go ... !" in two acts, on April 25, 2022, Ukrposhta announced the release of the third stamp. It is based on a sketch by 11-year-old Sofia Kravchuk from Liuboml, Volyn region. The stamp was issued on the Constitution Day of Ukraine.

·         Date of putting into circulation: June 28, 2022

·         Circulation - 3 million copies

·         Format - 33x30 mm

·         Number of stamps per sheet - 6 (2x3)

·         Nominal value - U (12.00 UAH)

·         Author - Sofia Kravchuk

It should be noted that the usual stamp circulation is within 130 thousand copies, so the decision to issue 3 million is a landmark in the history of Ukrainian philately. We should also note the innovation of the U denomination, which replaced the previous marking with the letter V. After all, the latter was actively used by the aggressor in the course of marking its equipment.

How the sketch for the brand "Ukrainian " Dream " was created and what it is about

The story of the sketch begins before the invasion of the aggressor country. The little artist has been drawing since kindergarten and has been attending the " Etude" art school since 1st grade. Her advisor and inspirer is her teacher Oksana Boguta, who accompanies the learning process.

The drawing began in spring 2021, as part of a competition organised by the Antonov Aircraft Design Bureau to mark Aviation Day. Antonov Aviation Day competition - "Paint your dream". As Sofia had no flying experience and knew little about aviation, she received instruction from Oksana. However, the teacher also was not an expert in the field, so in order to inform children about the sky and planes she had to study the subject. This is what led to the birth of the idea and the concept of the drawing.

It didn't take long to create the drawing, as the foundation of the author's artwork was laid back in 2018. It took two days of hard work to create the sketch and provide it with colours and the result was ready. It should be noted that the colours and style of the drawing are intertwined with Maria Primachenko's 'naive art' style.

In the centre there is a girl whose name is symbolically Maria. She is flying on a firebird. And as if united in flight with the free bird, she stretches her arms touching the sky. At the same time the iron birds fly nearby. They are as if alive and have eyes and a friendly smile. They are friends in the sky and among them is AN-225 Mriya. The painting is frozen in a blue starry sky, which also symbolises dreams.

The main idea conveyed by the painting is that something big and immense becomes accessible when you dream, believe and wish for it.

The finished work won 1st prize in the competition for which it was created. However, this was not her only recognition. The drawing later won 3rd place in the "What's Ukraine to Me?" competition, and was to be placed on a Ukrposhta envelope before the war. However, after Russian troops destroyed an aeroplane at the airfield in Gostomel, Ukrposhta decided to issue not only the previously planned envelope, but also a postage stamp.

A symbol of the Ukrainian dream that travels the world

The first stamp issued by Ukrposhta during the war caused quite a commotion, but not in a negative sense. It became a symbol of the unity of the people in the struggle for independence. And after the loss of the cruiser Moscow, the topic gained even more publicity and it was decided not to stop and continue to work towards victory.

The theme of the stamps is not chosen alone, it is the choice of Ukrainians who joined the survey and voting, including through social networks. This stamp symbolizes Ukrainian invincibility and the desire for freedom. And the destroyed plane is not the loss of a dream that continues to live and fly around the world on envelopes and in letters. The dream lives in the hearts of every Ukrainian.
