The trident on the state coats of arms of Ukraine during the liberation struggle: a description of the postal block of 2018
The trident is a symbol that occupies an important place in the history and culture of Ukraine. This symbol appeared on the national coat of arms of Ukraine during the liberation struggle and still retains its importance as a symbol of national dignity and independence. One of the manifestations of the use of the Trident on the coat of arms of Ukraine is the release of the 2018 postal block dedicated to this symbol.
Postal block "Trident on the state coats of arms of Ukraine"
The postal block "Trident on the state coats of arms of Ukraine" was issued in Ukraine in 2018. It consists of two brands of images of the Trident. All stamps have a denomination of 15 hryvnias and a size of 30.5x35 mm. The size of the block itself is 100x70mm. The circulation was 30,000 copies. The block of stamps is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of two important historical events:
● On March 22, 1918, the Ukrainian Central Rada approved the image of the small state coat of arms authored by Vasyl Krychevskyi;
● On November 24, 1918, a special commission approved the draft of the State Coat of Arms of the Ukrainian Derazava, authored by Georgy Narbut.
The stamp design is made in traditional national colors - blue and yellow. On the background of the blue cloth is an oval ornament, in the center of which is a trident - a symbol of the national dignity and spirituality of Ukrainians.
The trident on the coat of arms is made in yellow, symbolizing wealth and power. In the upper left corner of the stamp is the name of the country "UKRAINE" in blue, and in the lower right corner - the face value of the stamp is 15 hryvnias.
On the second stamp, the coat of arms is made of gold and azure. On a blue background, a Cossack is depicted with a saber on his left side and a gun on his left shoulder.
The stamp design was developed by the artist Volodymyr Taran.
