Six windows into a century of brotherhood, ideals, and honor

This colorful block, issued in 2007 by the Ukrainian philatelic society "Ukrphilkarda", is a radiant tribute to the centenary of the global scouting movement — and to the Ukrainian branch that grew from its noble ideals. Each of the six non-postal vignette stamps within this block is a distinct homage to vision, courage, and unity across nations and generations.

Two stamps feature a painted portrait of Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of world scouting — his steadfast gaze, full of purpose, invokes the spirit of leadership and global fellowship.

Two other stamps depict Oleksandr Tysovskyi, the ideological father of Ukrainian scouting and the founder of Plast. His presence here is not just commemorative — it is symbolic of the roots, values, and cultural specificity that Plast instilled in the Ukrainian youth movement.

One stamp showcases the emblem of world scouting, a fleur-de-lis intertwined with symbolism of service, promise, and unity. The final stamp displays the Ukrainian scouting emblem, rich in national spirit and the resilience of identity preserved through community and mentorship.

Each stamp bears the inscription “Plast Post” at the bottom, subtly indicating their symbolic — not postal — purpose. The date "2007" rests in the upper right corner, marking the celebration year. The nominal value “0.70 UAH” is elegantly placed, balancing aesthetics with authenticity.

These vignettes were printed in a total edition of 1,200 copies, both with and without perforation, across two design variants — with outer margins (fields) and without. The glossy paper, without adhesive, gives each stamp a refined sheen, like a polished badge earned through adventure and growth.

"Ukrphilkarda" — the publisher of this block — is a philatelic society founded in the Lviv region. Comprising dedicated collectors and cultural enthusiasts, the organization was active between 1996 and 2010, promoting Ukrainian philately and historical memory through the production of non-postal vignette stamps. Its releases often had charitable aims and honored prominent Ukrainian figures, anniversaries, and cultural themes. These editions, produced in limited quantities (from 200 to 1000 pieces), became not only collector’s items but also artifacts of patriotism and artistic expression.

This block is more than a philatelic release. It is a miniature archive of ideals — a tribute to those who taught generations to “Be Prepared,” to serve others, and to know themselves through nature, knowledge, and camaraderie.
