The Ukrainian hryvnia is the national currency of Ukraine, which was first put into circulation in 1918. Over the centuries of its existence, the hryvnia has become an important component of the country's economy and a symbol of national identity. In 2018, Ukraine celebrated the 100th anniversary of the hryvnia, and to mark this event, a postal block with a special design was issued. In 2018, Ukraine celebrated the 100th anniversary of the creation of its national currency, the hryvnia. On this occasion, Ukrposhta issued a special postal block called "Ukrainian monetary unit - hryvnia" including two stamps: "Ukrainian monetary unit - hryvnia. 100 years (depicted a peasant woman with a sickle)" and "Ukrainian monetary unit - hryvnia. 100 years (depicted a worker with a hammer)". The margins of the block contain the following inscriptions: "Ukrainian monetary unit - hryvnia", "100 years", "Ukrainian Central Rada established the hryvnia as a monetary unit on March 1, 1918", "The sketch of the binary bill was created by Vasyl Krychevskyi, and the bills with denominations of 10, 100 and 500 hryvnias - by Georgy Narbut."
Te postal block "100 Years of Hryvnia" was released on February 27, 2018. The block had a "horizontal rectangle" format and consisted of two stamps. The size of the postal block was 100 mm by 70 mm. The stamps were 30 mm by 35 mm in size and had a serrated perforation row.
The block and stamp were designed by Volodymyr Taran. The block of stamps was issued in a circulation of 30,000 copies, the face value of each stamp is UAH 15.
The Ukrainian hryvnia is the national currency of Ukraine and occupies an important place in the economic life of the country. The 100th anniversary of the hryvnia became an important event in the history of Ukraine and was commemorated by the issue of the "100 Years of the Hryvnia" postal block, which was issued by the National Bank of Ukraine.
