Ukrainian folk clothes series of stamps 2024
On January 22, 2025, to commemorate Ukraine's Unity Day, Ukrposhta issued a series of stamps featuring traditional clothing of Ukrainians from Kuban, Bilhorod Region, and Kursk Region. This unique release marks the anniversary of President Volodymyr Zelensky's signing of the decree "On Historically Ukrainian-Inhabited Territories of the Russian Federation." The decree stands as a response to Russia's distortion of history and the national identity of Ukrainians, especially on historically Ukrainian lands like Kuban, Starodub Region, and Northern and Eastern Slobozhanshchyna.
Unity Day holds special meaning for all Ukrainians as it symbolizes the unification of all Ukrainian territories into a single state and fosters the solidarity of all citizens regardless of nationality. With this stamp release, Ukrposhta supports the restoration of historical truth to secure a brighter Ukrainian future.
The new issue, depicting traditional attire of Ukrainians from Kuban, Bilhorod Region, and Kursk Region, continues the renowned series “Ukrainian Folk Clothing” that Ukrposhta began in 2001. Each stamp portrays a unique image of traditional Ukrainian clothing specific to the occasion or celebration for which it was worn in that region. The colorful designs of the stamps highlight the rich cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people. All stamps in the “Ukrainian Folk Clothing” series are created by Merited Artist of Ukraine, Mykola Kochubei.
The stamps presented by Ukrposhta in 2025 include:
- “Kursk Region. Yavdokha Festival”
- “Bilhorod Region. Easter”
- “Kuban. Family Celebration”
Each stamp has a print run of 600,000 copies. They are denominated with "U," corresponding to the tariff for mailing a domestic standard letter up to 50 grams or a postcard. The format of the stamps and coupons is 30 x 33 mm, while the sheet format measures 117 x 120 mm. Each stamp sheet contains 8 stamps and 1 coupon.
On January 22, 2025, these stamps and the accompanying stamp block will enter circulation and be valid for postal services in all branches of Ukrposhta.
