Stamp Sheet “Christmas Angel” — A Light That Never Fades
In December, when the music of Mykola Leontovych fills the air, shop windows glow with warm lights, and hearts are filled with anticipation of a miracle, Christmas once again reminds us of what truly matters: warmth, faith, and hope. It is in this very spirit that the postage stamp “Christmas Angel” was introduced — a small paper symbol of great belief, presented to the nation by Ukrposhta at the close of 2025.
The stamp depicts an Angel — a radiant messenger who bridges heaven and earth. Its wings, as if woven from Christmas light itself, embrace the space with calm and quiet reassurance. There is no excess pathos in this image, only silence, light, and a sense of protection. The Angel seems to bow gently over Ukraine, over every home where a candle is lit and a prayer is whispered for loved ones far away. The artist, Anton Lohov, created this image with deep faith in goodness, infusing it with love for people and a conviction that light always finds its way through darkness.
There is a small Christmas story one cannot help but imagine while looking at this stamp. Picture a winter night, snow falling softly beyond the window. Inside the house it is quiet; only a single candle glows on the windowsill. A child carefully places the “Christmas Angel” stamp on an envelope and writes a letter to a father serving at the front. The child does not know how quickly the letter will arrive, but believes that the Angel on the stamp will surely carry the warmth of these words, protect the letter on its journey, and remind the recipient that he is awaited at home. This is the true magic of a postage stamp — to carry not only messages, but emotions.
The stamp sheet deepens this feeling. The Christmas night comes alive in rich shades of blue, adorned with gold and silver foil stamping. A church bell tower, a Christmas tree crowned with a star, and the silhouettes of people gathered together form a visual hymn to unity, shared prayer, and an unbreakable national spirit. Embossed details add texture, allowing the light to be felt even by touch. The sheet is not merely a printed product, but a complete artistic composition.
The “Christmas Angel” issue was solemnly presented on December 24, 2025, at Saint Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv — a sacred place where Ukraine’s history spans more than a thousand years. This setting symbolically united past and present, prayer and hope. The stamp bears the U denomination, corresponding to the domestic postage rate for a standard letter up to 50 grams. The stamp format measures 33.06 × 40.02 mm, the sheet 173 × 121 mm, with six stamps per sheet (3×2). The total print run amounts to 390,000 copies. In addition, a limited-edition numbered imperforate block was issued for philatelic subscribers.

Today, “Christmas Angel” is more than a postage stamp. It is a sign of its time — a quiet testament to Ukraine’s enduring faith, light, and love. This small Angel on paper speaks silently to everyone who sees it: goodness does not disappear, Christmas lives in the heart, and hope is always near, even on the darkest night
