Block of four stamps "Help to the starving"
Postage stamps of Ukraine of 1923 are depicted on the postal block. Stamps had a double denomination. One is to pay for postal services, the other is charitable for the needs of the starving population of Ukraine. Stamps, although they were issued by the USSR, are not classified as Soviet stamps by philately. The inscriptions on the stamps are written in Ukrainian. Stamps were printed on the initiative of the government of the republic and carried out on the territory of the Ukrainian state.
