MARIUPOL CITY OF HEROES postage stamp

A symbol of invincibility. A testimony of pain. A seal of memory.

The Mariupol postage stamp is a letter to the future, embedded in the metal silence of a besieged city, where every spark is not extinction, but resistance. Ukrposhta honors the heroic defense of Mariupol and the terrible price that had to be paid for every hour of freedom, every square meter of life.

For the first time in the history of Ukrainian philately, postage stamps are covered with particles of real steel - the same one that was born in the fires of the Azovstal plant. These particles are like frozen tears and armor of the spirit at the same time. Here, in the metal case, the memory of all who held the defense, of all who are no longer with us, pulsates.

At the center of the plot is a silent reminder of one of the most terrible crimes of the 21st century: March 16, 2022, when bombs from a Russian plane tore apart the heart of the city - the Drama Theater. Where women, children, and the elderly were hiding from the war, only ashes and the inscription "CHILDREN" remained, which could not stop the destruction.

The explosion not only destroyed the building - it tore the fabric of humanity. And that is why the postal series "City of Heroes. Mariupol" is not only a philatelic object. It is a spiritual relic, created with respect, love, and faith in the invincibility of our people.

Stamps of the 37.5×51 mm format are combined into a sheet measuring 101×143 mm. Four stamps, printed in tete-a-beche, form a single composition - like the four cardinal points, to which the voices of Mariupol flow. The denomination “M” symbolizes not only the tariff, but also Power, Silence and Prayer.

For the first time in Ukraine, thermography technology was used - thanks to cooperation with the leading French printing house Cartor Security Printers, which helped bring this complex and emotionally rich idea to life.
